Los últimos días he estado enfrascada en los ensayos del musical que representamos en nuestra escuela de Arte Dramático. Se trata de un trabajo de grupo en el que me ofrecí a escribir el guion en base a una estructura que encajara con el tema requerido: ‘la escuela de Arte Dramático’; así pues, toda la trama de nuestro musical se desarrolla durante la espera antes de la prueba de acceso a la escuela, cada uno canta una canción donde explica por qué ‘quiere ser actor’ (cada uno se encargaba de manera personal de crearla) y, a partir de ahí, fuimos añadiendo matices entre todos, coreografiamos bailes, ideamos gags y añadimos alguna que otra broma con cariño hacia algún profesor. Fue muy interesante ver cómo íbamos ‘descubriendo’ los personajes, cómo la energía iba fluyendo y ver qué fuertes podíamos explotar.

The last few days I’ve been engrossed in recent trials of our musical we represented at our drama school. I offered to write the script based on a structure that Miguel Vilar (fellow actor in my school) and me thought and also based in a general idea of the characters who each wanted. The requested topic was ‘School of Drama’ and the whole story of our musical takes place during the wait before the ‘audition’ in order to become a student, everyone sings a song explaining why ‘you want to be an actor’ (each personally was responsible for creating it) and, from there, we were adding nuances, we prepare dance chorepgraphy, devised gags and we add the occasional joke with affection for some teachers. It was very interesting to see how we were ‘discovering’ the characters, how the energy was flowing and how strong we could exploit our attributes.
Uno de mis momentos favoritos de mi compañera Ana Burguet, quien ideó una atmósfera genial para su personaje (la obsesionada con L.A) con alfombra roja de ropa (y tangas) Suya fue la idea de vestir de negro de cintura para bajo e ir descalzos, tal y como vamos ‘uniformados’ en la escuela para ser neutrales, brava! / One of my fav moments by Ana Burguet, who devised an amazing atmosphere for her character (the girl obsessed with L.A) with a red clothes (also thongs) like a red carpet. She had the idea of wearing black from the waist down and barefoot, as our uniform in the school in order to be neutrals, brava!
Había un poco de álter ego en algunos personajes, del mío decir (a grandes rasgos) que es una chica obsesionada con el cine francés de la Nouvelle vague (y los objetos antiguos), intelectual, poco sociable, con un tic en la nariz, con tendencia a sonarse los mocos (no siempre con pañuelo) y a enfadarse si no le dejan leer con tranquilidad… En mi canción nombro a Anna Karina, ‘Jules et Jim’, ‘Hiroshima mon amour’ y la fijación por la claqueta, la acción… Ya sabéis. Ah, y con una forma de reír muy extraña.

There was some alter ego in some characters… I can say (roughly) my character is a girl obsessed with the French cinema of the New Wave, intellectual, asocial, with a twitch in her nose, with a tendency to blow her snotes (not always with a tissue) and angry if someone don’t leave her reading in peace … In my song I mentioned Anna Karina, ‘Jules et Jim’, ‘Hiroshima mon amour’ and my fixation with the film slate, the ‘aaaction’, you know. Oh, and with a very weird way to laugh.
Durante la trama, mi personaje socializa un poco con dos personajes, con la chica rural que tiene el sueño de llegar a Los Angeles (acaban aprendiendo la una de la otra y ella me maquilla por primera vez en mi vida haciendo que mire el resultado en un espejo) y también con la infantil que quiere ser payaso, ogro y princesa, que finalmente me enternece. Uno de los chicos intenta ligar conmigo y podéis imaginar la hecatombe que eso supone para un personaje como el que encarno. En fin, muy divertido todo el proceso.

During the story I socialize a little bit with two characters, the rural girl with a dream to get famous in Los Angeles (just learning from each other, she puts lipstick on my lips for the first time in my life and says me to see the result look in a mirror) and also with the childish girl who wants to be a clown, ogre and princess, who finally warms my heart. One of the guys try to pick me up and you can imagine the hecatomb that entails for a character like the one I incarnate. In short, very funny the entire process.

PS. Yes, I found my clothes, suitcase, glasses, etc at my ‘famous’ memory/vintage trunk. And I had a Françoise Hardy at my suitcase, it was my tribute to ‘Moonrise kingdom’
*Sobra decir que se nos pidió algo ‘ligerito’, una comedia algo ‘facilona’ y poco trascendental. De ahí los clichés y el efecto visual.
*Needless to say, we were asked to do a ‘light comedy’, nothing transcendental. Hence the clichés and that ‘visual effect’.
