Aunque parezca que esto trata de una creciente fijación hacia las fotos a comida, los atardeceres y las fotos desde el coche, no lo es. No vale cualquier comida o atardecer, es simplemente que la vista va directa a coca-colas ‘naturales’, comida claramente diferenciada en el menú como vegetariana o vegana (¡por fin!), cupcakes envasados con motivos patrióticos, Starbucks en el supermercado y lugares muy interesantes para cenar decorados con elementos de ‘detrás de las cámaras’ de los rodajes.

I know that I seem obsessed with taking pics of the food, the sunsets and photos in the car, but not. I don’t like any food or sunset, it’s only that my gaze is diverted to ‘natural’ Coke, food on the menu clearly differentiated as vegetarian or vegan (finally!), packaged cupcakes with patriotic motives, Starbucks at the supermarket and interesting diner places decorated with elements of ‘behind of the camera’ shooting.

Por no hablar de esta visita a un mercadillo de compra-venta de cámaras de fotos, objetivos, libros de fotografía, la de cosas que se podían encontrar (gracias a Minh, ¡fue todo un descubrimiento para mí!)

Not to mention this visit to a flea market sale of cameras, objectives, photography books, a lot of amazing things! (thanks Minh, it was a discovery for me!)

Y sí, me gusta el red velvet, el fútbol americano (Go Broncos!) y los boli Bic hechos con orgullo en USA… ¡¡¡Todo junto en un supermercado!!!

Me gustó mucho True Food Kitchen en Fashion Valley (¡gracias Rochelle!), con ensaladas espectaculares, con productos locales totalmente naturales y menú vegano riquísimo (en variedad y sabor). ¡Hasta la coca-cola era natural! Quiero uno en España.

Luego, las paradas en carretera donde todo menú va acompañado de puré de patata, verduras hervidas y el pastel de carne preside cada mesa, oh y café aguado americano para despertarse ^^ Este mismo día probé el sandwich de crema de cacahuete y mermelada, qué mezcla tan intensa de sabor, wow.

Then the road stops where every menu is accompanied by mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables and meat loaf is the king, oh yes, American coffee to wake up ^ ^ The same day I tried the PB&J sandwich, what a intense mix of flavor, wow.

Para cenar a Studio Diner, un lugar junto a los estudios de rodaje donde toda la decoración es como de set de rodaje y el milkshake está buenísimo, ah y tienen a este amigo que usaron para una TV movie llamada ‘I married a monster’, un remake o versión de la cincuentera ‘I married a monster from outer space’.

At night Studio Diner, a place beside the filming studios where all the decoris as filming location and the milkshake is yummy, oh and they have this friend who appeared in aTV movie called "I Married a Monster ‘, a remake or aversion of that 50′s movie ‘I married a monster from outer space’.

Hasta tuve tiempo de ir al cine, comer Godiva y entrar en el Forever 21 más grande que he visto jamás… y el único, teniendo en cuenta que aquí no hay tienda física

De nuevo vuelven a sobrar las palabras, son tantas cosas las que podría contaros que incluso rellenando 20 posts, me quedaría corta. Poder estar en los estudios, recorrer sets de rodaje míticos que aún se conservan, ver el tiburón original de la primera película de ‘Tiburón’, las maquetas de la nueva película ‘Paranorman’, demostraciones de la realización de efectos especiales (como ‘Fast and the furious’), decorados, bandas sonoras como música ambiente, es demasiado.

Again no words, there are so many things I could tell, I could write thousands posts. Being at the Universal stages, to walk around mythical movie sets still preserved, to see the original first shark from ‘Jaws’, the models of the new film ‘Paranorman’, to see demonstrations of special effects (as’ Fast and the furious’), atrezzo, soundtracks as background music, amazing.

¡¡El motel de ‘Psicosis’!! Solo de saber que Hitchcock estuvo aquí, el cuerpo siente cien cosas a la vez / The motel from ‘Psycho’!!! Just to know that Hitchcock was here, the body feels hundred things at once.

San Diego at night

Después de posts con días en San Diego, festival de cine y desierto, llega… ¡La noche! Y esto no ha hecho más que empezar.

Lo mejor de estar en una ciudad que no conoces es que el más mínimo detalle parece un descubrimiento; fueron noches de milkshakes, Olimpiadas en televisiones de bares disolutos, Paulaner con personas del oeste más profundo, cenas caseras con sopas mexicanas que se alargan hasta la madrugada, pistas de baile, alfombras persas en áticos (Barfly La Jolla), pasteles y luces, muchas luces nocturnas.

After some posts about days in San Diego, desert shores and film festival, here comes …The night! And this has only the beginning. The best thing about being in a city you don’t know is that every detail seems a discovery; I lived milkshakes nights, ‘dissolute bars’ with Olympics in TV, Paulaners with people from ‘far West’, homemade Mexican dinners until dawn, dance floors, Persian carpets in attics (Barfly La Jolla) , cakes and lights, many night lights.

One day in San Diego with Tim Vechik

Así es como transcurrió un día increíble por San Diego junto al maravilloso fotógrafo Tim Vechik (http://www.vechik.com/) que me guió por la ciudad e hizo estas fotos preciosas, es difícil conocer a fotógrafos que sepan captar perfectamente las atmósferas y además tengan un estilo o identidad propios a la hora de hacer la foto. Tim es así y fui afortunada al conocerle y, en tiempo record durante mi visita a USA, poder hacer juntos estas fotos por una ciudad llena de esos pequeños detalles que tanto me gustan de las ciudades de la costa oeste americana.

Primero fuimos a conocer downtown San Diego y me probé los zapatos que llevaría por la noche (necesario estando abonada a las bailarinas) y allí estábamos entre conversaciones cuando descubrimos entre el atrezzo de Tim este parasol que, inevitablemente, me recordó a Mary Poppins… ¡Al pie de la letra!

This is how began a wonderful day in San Diego with the amazing photographer Tim Vechik (http://www.vechik.com/) who guided me through the city and made these lovely photos, is not easy to know photographers who know perfectly to capture the atmospheres and also have a personal style or identity taking the picture. Tim is that kind of photographer and I was fortunate to meet him and, in ‘the best record time’ during my visit to USA, to take these pictures together in a city full of those little things that I like in the cities of West Coast.

First we visited downtown San Diego and I tried on the shoes for that night (it was necessary because I wear flats almost always), so while we was talking about different things I fell in love with this parasol we found among Tim’s atrezzo, inevitably it reminded me Mary Poppins .. . literally as you can see!

Fuimos a la tienda Bettie Page (http://www.bettiepageclothing.com/) y me quedé anonadada con todos sus vestidos de estética 50′s, era como estar dentro del armario de una auténtica pin-up. Bárbara, la manager de la tienda, fue un encanto y nos dejo buscar el outfit perfecto para la fiesta nocturna en Hard Rock Hotel San Diego (http://hardrockhotelsd.com/)

We went to Bettie Page store (http://www.bettiepageclothing.com/) and I was shocked with all its 50′s aesthetic dresses, it was like being in the closet of a real pin-up. Barbara, the manager of the store, was charming and let us to find the perfect outfit for the night party at Hard Rock Hotel San Diego (http://hardrockhotelsd.com/)

La noche anterior a estas fotos estuve en su casa cenando (ya os contaré porque además es buen cocinero ^^) y viendo su nueva colección en primicia; no pude evitar enamorarme de ese aire rocker y lo vimos claro, a Hard Rock Hotel (http://hardrockhotelsd.com/) debía ir vestida de Osbaldo Ahumada. During the days in the city and at the Fashion Film Festival, I met a designer who has interesting collections, he is Osbaldo Ahumada (http://www.osbaldoahumada.com/). On our way to US-Mexico border to spend a night in Tijuana, we make a stop at Chicano Park in San Diego. The impressive murals around us and the the spirit of this colorful neighborhood fits perfectly with these leggings designed by PopRockThreads I’m wearing in these photos.

It was amazing to be there, in the suburbs with PopRockThreads designers taking these pictures. Their leggings are ultra resistant and have a perfect mixture of pop and rock culture.
