Looking for Eimish has been released this weekend in Spain. It’s the first movie directed by Ana Rodríguez Rosell. It tells the story of how Eimish (Manuela Vellés) leaves the house that she shared with her boyfriend Lucas (Óscar Jaenada) and embarks on a trip to rethink her relationship with him. Lucas begins looking for her in the cities that determined Eimish’s life (Berlin, Verona, Borghetto). I was at a special preview a couple of weeks ago, where we talked with the director and met Emma Suárez, that also appears on the film along with Jan Cornet. She told us some interesting facts: Manuella Vellés sings one of the songs in the movie (it wasn’t planned, but when they found out she could sing, they aksed her to do it immediately), the movie had a huge success in China, and an album by Alondra Bentley with the themes from the movie will be launched soon.
The aesthetic of the film is so studied, from the house decorations to the characters’ wardrobe. I loved Manuela’s outfits, they are very sweet and in pastel colors. The costume designer is Laura Renau.
The story is really beautiful, the relationship between the characters is very interesting, how their decisions affect each other and how they evolve as the movie develops.

Este fin de semana se ha estrenado en España Buscando a Eimish, el primer largometraje dirigido por Ana Rodríguez Rosell. Cuenta la historia de cómo Eimish (Manuela Vellés) se marcha de viaje para replantarse su relación con Lucas (Óscar Jaenada), quien irá a buscarla por las ciudades (Berlín, Verona, Borghetto) que han marcado la vida de Eimish. Estuve en un pase hace un par de semanas, donde pudimos charlar con la directora y conocer a Emma Suárez, que junto a Jan Cornet también aparece en la película. Nos contó detalles muy interesantes, como que es Manuela Vellés la que interpreta uno de los temas (no estaba planeado, pero al enterarse que Manuela sabía cantar, no lo dudaron ni un segundo), que la película tuvo muy buena acogida en China, y que se lanzará un disco de Alondra Bentley con los temas de la película.
La estética del film está cuidadísima, desde la decoración de las casas, hasta el vestuario de los personajes. Me encantaron los estilismos de Manuela, muy dulces y todos en tonos pastel. La diseñadora de vestuario es Laura Renau.
Es una historia muy bonita, la relación entre los personajes es muy interesante, cómo sus decisiones les afectan y cómo van evolucionando a lo largo de la película.
