Naomi Watts encarna a Lady Di en Diana, el biopic sobre la Princesa de Gales. Durante los últimos meses hemos estado viendo imágenes del rodaje y lo cierto es que la caracterización del personaje está muy lograda. Y con el talento interpretativo de Naomi, seguro que en el cine gana mucho más. La película está centrada en los dos últimos años de vida de la princesa y narra la relación que tuvo con el cirujano Hasnat Khan y también la de Dodi Fayed. Está dirigida por Oliver Hirschbiegel. Se estrenará en Inglaterra en septiembre.
En un biopic el vestuario es esencial, pues se trata de un elemento clave de la personalidad del protagonista. El diseñador de vestuario del film ha sido Julian Day, que ha empleado los conjuntos más icónicos de Lady Di en la película. La mayoría son réplicas, como el Versace azul que lució Diana en Sydney en 1996, el traje de chaqueta que le hizo Andrew Ramroop -sastre de Savile Row- para la entrevista de televisión en el canal Panorama, o el brillante vestido de Catherine Walker que llevó en 1997. Sin embargo, también hay originales, como los conjuntos firmados por Jacques Azagury que pertenecieron a la propia princesa.
Las joyas son todas de Chopard. Caroline Scheufele, directora creativa de la firma de joyería, realizó una colección especial de piezas inspiradas en las que lució Lady Di. Tienen un protagonismo importante en el film.
El vestuario, las joyas, el peinado, y la prótesis de nariz han ayudado a Naomi a meterse en uno de los papeles más difíciles de su carrera. Interpretar a una figura tan reconocida no es nada fácil, que se lo digan a Michelle Williams…

Naomi Watts plays Lady Di in Diana, the biopic about the Princess of Wales. We’ve been seeing lots of pics from the shootings, and the truth is that the characterization is very well achieved. And that, added to Naomi’s acting talent, I’m sure it will look even better on cinemas. The movie is centered around the last two years of the princess and it narrates the relationships she maintained with Hasnat Khan and Dodi Fayed. It’s directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel, an will be premiered in England in September.
Costume design is essential in a biopic, as it’s a key aspect of the personality of the character. Julian Day is the costume designer of the movie, and he’s used for the film some of the most iconic pieces Lady Di wore. Most of them are replicas, such as the blue Versace dress Diana wore in Sydney in 1996, the suit that Andrew Ramroop -a tailor from Savile Row- made for her TV interview in Panorama, or the sparkling dress by Catharine Walker that she wore in 1997. Nevertheless, there are some original pieces too, such as the outfits created by Jacques Azagury that belonged to the princess herself.
The jewels are by Chopard. Caroline Scheufele, the label’s creative director, made a special collection of pieces inspired by the ones that Lady Di wore. They attract a lot of attention in the film.
