The Immigrant fue una de las películas más discutidas del último festival de Cannes y fuente de polémica por la decisión de TWC (la productora de Harvey Weinstein) de retrasar su estreno para dar prioridad a otros proyectos. Dirigida por James Gray, la película narra la historia de Ewa (Marion Cotillard) una mujer polaca que en busca del sueño americano emigra a Nueva York en los años 20 y es «acogida» por un hombre (Joaquin Phoenix) con unos intereses no muy buenos. Les acompaña en el reparto Jeremy Renner.
Todavía no hay fecha de estreno en España, veamos por el momento el trailer y algunas imágenes del vestuario. Lo firma Patricia Norris, que entre otras cosas ha hecho el piloto de Twin Peaks y Scarface (con un vestuario fantástico). De The Immigrant me gusta el detalle de las perlas plateadas, las plumas, los adornos del pelo, los labios burgundy… Muy jazz age.
Tengo muchas ganas de ver esta película por el trío protagonista y por el director. En Cannes hubo comentarios para todos los gustos, espero que valga la pena. Marion está guapísima con esos labios y el detalle de la cinta en la cabeza.
